So yesterday this post was made in the POD Ninjas Facebook group...

Someone had spent about $900 on ads, and didn’t really find much success.

Why do you think this happens?

I’ve been running print on demand stores since 2016, and I’be also been lucky enough to work with over 1,000 print on demand store owners - in this time, I’ve learned about a few things that impact sales way more than you think.

So many people think their problem is their ads...

Or their store’s name.

Or their logo.

But the truth is, success with print on demand isn’t possible unless you have a winning product.

Now, what do you think a winning product is?

A winning product is something that can be sold with ads. Something that can be scaled, and it’s made up of three parts.

  1. Your niche
  2. Your product choice
  3. Your design

All three of these together equal your offer, and it it’s not “winning” you won’t succeed.

See this here? This sort of gadget when sold with Facebook ads would be a best seller.

Why?

It solves people problems. When they see it, they think “Wow, that fixes a problem I have and I need to buy it.”

With print on demand, our stuff doesn’t solve problems.

So in reality, people have no reason at all to buy our stuff.

Unless of course, the niche we chose is something that triggers an emotional response.

This is one of the products being sold on the store I mentioned above. (The one where someone spent $900 on ads)

What’s the niche?

If you couldn’t figure it out, there is no niche.

A niche is something that someone is passionate about, or something they identify with.

It’s something that people feel represents who they are.

And if you screw this part up, you’re store will be doomed.

Now what about product choice?

So many people under estimate the power of choosing the right product.

They simply think well I’ll just sell a shirt, or a mug...

“Lots of people on YouTube recommend that so it must be good”

Here’s the thing - in 2021, so many print on demand products exist now that if you’re still choosing shirts or mugs, you’re likely not gonna achieve the best results possible.

Choosing a unique product that your niche will love, is another way to get them to by our “non-problem-solving products”

This is called niche optimization, it’s an entire framework I developed to study your niche, and figure out exactly who your target customer is.

And from there, the goal is to pick something ideal for them

Now I know what you’re thinking...

“What about design, Joe... Isn’t that important too?”

Of course. Possibly more important than your niche choice.

This is because it’s what people are actually buying from you.

They’re buying the design.

And if it’s not great, you’re gonna struggle.

I like to keep it simple, and break designs down into 4 parts.

  1. Shapes
  2. Images
  3. Colors
  4. Quotes

These four things make a design, it’s how you bring them together that is the tricky part.

The key is to pick recognizable elements for your niche, and make sure that people will notice that it’s a niche design, for them.

So let me ask you something.

Do you have winning products?

Did you pick good niches?

Did you choose to sell t shirts? Or mugs?

How are your designs?

How are your SALES?

If you’re not getting the results you want, or if you’ve just got started but you’re nervous about what the future holds, I wanna invite you to check out the Print On Demand Challenge
